Co-Executive Directors Jenn Mascott and Adam White Participate in Symposium Event to Honor Judge Laurence Silberman’s Intellectual Legacy

The late Judge Laurence Silberman of the DC Circuit Court of Appeals has been called “among the most important judges never appointed to the Supreme Court” for how his opinions on administrative issues, constitutionalism, and national security indelibly shaped American jurisprudence.

A staunch defender of judicial restraint, Judge Silberman hewed carefully to the limits of the Constitution in his legal thought. The decisions he reached on cases related to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Congress’s creation of an independent prosecutor, alongside his work co-chairing the Iraq Intelligence Commission, illustrate the breadth and depth of his incisive mind. He also played an indispensable role in cultivating new generations of lawyers, judges, and legal scholars.
