These event featured insights from Matthew Bowman, the Deputy General Counsel, on the various jobs available, how to apply for those jobs, and how to tell if a career at HHS might be right for you.

About Matthew Bowman

Matthew Bowman serves as a Deputy General Counsel at HHS, where he currently oversees legal services provided through OGC’s Civil Rights Division regarding civil rights matters, the Children Family and Aging Division, and generally the Public Health Division. Prior to his position at HHS, Mr. Bowman was an attorney at the public interest firm Alliance Defending Freedom for ten years. There he practiced constitutional and civil rights litigation relating to health matters, and argued 20 cases, including six at federal appeals courts. Mr. Bowman served as a judicial law clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit both for Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr., and for Judge Michael A. Chagares. Mr. Bowman also served as a law clerk for Judge John M. Roll at the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona. Mr. Bowman earned his J.D. summa cum laude from Ave Maria School of Law in 2003, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the University of Dayton.
